Motorola was an American telecommunication equipment corporation when it was founded in 1928. Motorola is the brand that manufactured the first mobile phone of history in 1973. They were also the first to launch a flip phone in 1990. Motorola had a massive impact on the analog phone market, but they slowed down when it came to the digital. They recovered quickly and joined the competition by introducing the Motorola Razr V3 in 2004. Motorola Razr V3 was a very thin and elegant flip feature phone, and it is still the most sold flip phone in the world (130 million units in four years). After the year 2009, their business was divided into two different public companies, Motorola Solutions, and Motorola Mobility. Motorola Mobility went on to manufacture smartphones with Google's Android operating system. At the end of 2009, they launched their first Android phone Motorola Droid (also known as Motorola Droid 1). They made the right decision to choose Android as Droid was a huge success for them. Even the company was awarded many prizes by well-recognized institutions. So after that success, they revealed Droid 2, Droid x, Droid Bionic and so on. All of these Droid models were relatively successful in the early days. The complete business of Motorola Mobility was sold to Google in 2012. Later in 2014, the Chinese multinational tech giant Lenovo acquired Motorola and now it is called Motorola - a Lenovo Company. Since then, Motorola kept launching successful smartphones around the globe and Lenovo together with Motorola is among the top smartphone companies in the world regarding sales.
